So moving...
I hate moving. So much. I have stayed in places for way to long as I Just Hate Moving. Sigh.
This time, it's not just across town. Or event across state. It's moving from the big square states to the small uneven ones. 3,000 miles. To top it off, that's not the hard part. The hard part is being such a thrifty person, I have a compact car that can not pull a trailer.
I've spent the better part of the last month or so trying to figure out how to move my belongings. Fun fact: I don't own very much large stuff. I do however own my very own true to life sized bookstore, enough clothes to open my own mall and a golden retriever. Setting aside the first two, The dog takes up most of the car. Last fall on a road trip she and I determined that she doesn't like riding in the car for more then 20 minutes. 40 hours later I was ready to leave her in Iowa at a rest area. Luckily we ran into friends at said rest stop and they changed my mind. I regress. Moral of story: Dog takes up most of the car. My snacks I need to driving take up any remainder of space. Not so much room in car for belongings.
I have compiled lots of information on moving companies, shipping alternatives and pack mules. I have determined that the best way to move my stuff across our great country is:
A mix of USPS and Fed-Ex.
Please make the face everyone makes when I tell them this. Here's how I came to this conclusion: I need a 4X6 trailer. I can't pull one with my car. I have a cash budget of 1,600. I do not use credit cards, however this will change but not in the three weeks I have before I need to move.
Today (or tomorrow) I will be shipping my media mail.
Here's to moving!
